Quilt Show Pictures - JO-IN

Just a few of the 181 entries at our local quilt show this past weekend. We had about 300 people come visit our show.

Neat idea for a sign!

Made by a guild member.

Below - three Crazy Patch quilts from the 1800 - they were dated!

New York Beauty - made by a guild member.
This piece is just exquisite! Applique, embroidery, silk ribbon. . . the works!

Piece on the left is an embroidered flour sack. The small Flying Geese and Tiny Tumblers are mine. Piece on right made by a guild member.

Made by guild members.
This is my Happy Holidays wall quilt - it's long and skinny!
Pattern from Traditional Quilts magazine - many years ago. Fun to make this. It was hand quilted by a gal in Lousiana.

This is my Fun-Ugly quilt. A challenge was issued at http://quiltville.com/ to use your ugly fabrics in any combination. Machine quilted by Caroline Messer. I love this quilt - call it Fallen Leaves.

Corner of Fallen Leaves - pinned up to show a pieced backing. I cut 10 1/2" squares of all solid color fabrics.

Enjoy!

Sorry ladies, the Little Women was done by Margie/ARK. Some day I'll remember to sign my name. LOL

Little Women Class

This is a class that is taught all over. It is by Jo Morton who has several collections of civil war type fabrics. Many of these borders were small pieces. Much smaller than I had ever done but I got it done! It was called Holiday Inn.

Well ladies. I have taken in a foster ....She is about 1 1/2and a real sweetie...Sheldon think it is all about him...and he is proably right...but hopefully she will teach him a few manners...He is almost as big as she is...but she does get her point accross. so it is a learning curve for us all.

As you can see she is what is called a fawnakin...some not so bright breeder (and I use that term loosely) are breeding what they call exotic colors...now the AKC only recognizes 5 colors so she is not a recognized color...and since she is a odd mix..though she is all GD..she was placed, then replaced and now here as a foster....but I think there is a family that wants her...so don't think she will be here long.

DJ is off the shelf and I am working on the last border...seems the book had a little blip...but not an issue...just one more challenge.

Just wanted to stop in and say howdy. Take care

PeachyPA - Chicken Broccoli Salad

This is the salad I made for my quilting group monthly luncheon on Wednesday. I started it on Tuesday evening, chopping the broccoli, toasting the seeds and nuts, making the dressing and poaching the chicken breasts (I poach in bouillon). Enjoy!

Chicken Broccoli Salad

1 bag broccoli slaw or cole slaw
1 small head broccoli
2 Tbsp sesame seeds, toasted at 350° for a few minutes
1 1/2 cups almond slices or slivers, toasted
1 bunch green onions (about 9), chopped
1 bag Ramen chicken noodles, reserve seasoning packet
2 chicken breast halves, poached and shredded, cooled

In a large bowl, break up broccoli into bite size pieces. Do the same to the Ramen noodles. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

Dressing:
3 Tbsp. vinegar
2 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 cup oil
1/3 tsp. salt
1/3 tsp. pepper
Ramen seasoning packet

Stir all dressing ingredients to mix well. Mix salad and dressing right before serving.

Viewer's Choice

This is the quilt that got viewer's choice at the Aurora, MO show I went to last Saturday. I think she called it Snake River. There is another one showing how small the pieces are.
