Scattered Piecer's retreat

What a wonderful weekend we just experienced. A lot of pictures were taken and they will be posted as soon as time allows. Lots of laughs, Ta Da's, good food and fantastic friends. House was full, fridge was over flowing and we all had a wonderful time.

Judy-Garden

Just went out and picked the garden.....some surprises. I've been getting some small tomatoes and some banana peppers but this morning I picked green beans, onions, a few red new potatoes and some peppers. The green beans are really blooming, there are two cucumbers that will end up in a salad later this week and the squash are starting to put on. Sure wish we would get a good rain but for now lots of water is helping it survive.

Well pooh.....I have a picture of my veggie basket but for some reason I'm not able to add it. Oh well, it was a thought anyway.

Hope you all had a great Mother's Day, no complaints on this end. Spent most of the weekend at Peggy's to attend the quilt show in Boerne. All of us enjoyed the quilts, great burgers for lunch then out for Mexican food for dinner. Wish more of you would post what's going on, miss the connections we once had.

Judy-Florida

Birthday ice cream at Margaritaville
Farmers market at Winter Park
Birthday quilt
Enjoying our "cheeseburger in paradise" at M'ville

Last week I surprised my daughter by flying to Orlando for her birthday. My flight was delayed so she was told I was coming and met me at the airport so I didn't get to see the surprise on her face when told...but I was assured she was surprised. We went to Winter Park for their farmers market, that was great fun. Seems it was the thing to bring your dog. Then off to New Smyrna Beach for oysters only to find the only oyster bar open on Sunday got their oysters from Texas...we passed. It was fun to people watch on the beach though.....LOL

Sunday evening we went to City Walk at Universal, dinner at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville then to Bob Marley's for reggea (sp) music. My family still can't believe I had no idea who Bob Marley is. It was a fun evening though.

I've added "new food" to my taste. Grilled ahi (tuna), sushi, PF Changs, Apalachacola Bay oysters....the list is long but the food was fantastic.

The pictures are just a glimps of my great weekend, also the quilt I made for her birthday on the bed. Plan to return this summer for another visit.

Spring Break Continued

This is the project I worked on during spring break. This is for my DD in FL for her b'day. The quilt is 91" sq. so the picture is just 1/4th of the top. Hope to have it quilted and on it's way to her in about a week.

Spring Break

Bugg was here for spring break and we sewed. The 1/2 sq. triangle blocks are hers. She is getting very consistant with her 1/4" seam allowances. She made 5 of these blocks, I think it will be a table runner.

Judy

Just got this picture from my dd in Florida of the orange tree in her back yard. She thinks they are those small, expensive oranges...clemintines???....Not sure but she has a good supply....LOL

Judy

I love the new setting for the blog. Thanks for the change.

Judy

Here are my latest projects. The black/brights is the Strips and Salsa pattern. Saw the pattern at our retreat in January. It was fun and easy to make. No "Y" seams.

The 2nd is a kit I saw on FQ Shop's newsletter and just had to have it. I've taken the basic idea for it and have created a quilt on EQ that I want to make for my DD in FL. This one was easy once you got the layout down. A design wall is a must (and I still made some mistakes)....LOL

Hope to see some of the projects others are working on. This site sure has been quiet..come on ladies...share.

Here's the t-shirt quilt that I overlooked when taking pictures at our Jan. retreat. This belongs to Sandie from San Antonio. She did a great job.

Here are some pictures of my projects. Notice Sheldon is the expert on making sure all is done correctly. My snap happy bags plus the church quilt.

Judy-Snap Happy Bags

These bags are fun to make and so simple. The picture of the single bag was the first one I made. It is now my makeup bag. The picture of the two bags show the process. The "snap" is a metal measuring tape. One is a bag in progress and the other is the finished bag. I did three of the red bags for Valentine's Day for Kenli and the kids and put candy in each. They were a big hit and can be used for something else after all the candy is eaten. Plans are to make these bags as a quick project at our June retreat.
